The Real Question is not Hillary vs. Bernie

For people thinking it is my candidate or I won’t vote; and for people thinking a vote for an “establishment” candidate is the issue; for people thinking that because a candidate has money, or is supported by money, he/she is corrupt/or corruptible;  for people thinking that there is not a difference between the two parties: Please think again!

We have lost much of the protective regulations, social safety net programs, our sense of being a United States of America. We have lost safe air, safe water, infrastructure maintenance and development, a sense of mutual respect and civility, and good public education teaching our children civics and thinking skills. We have lost the trust busting of Teddy Roosevelt. We have lost: “Give us your tired and your poor, your huddled masses yearning to be free.” (Emma Lazarus). We have lost our sense of the greater good. We have lost the major thrust of the voting rights act. We, the People have lost!

Our cities are filled with homeless people, our mentally ill roam the streets without care, violence is more American than apple pie, (especially gun violence), our children by the thousands go hungry and houseless. There are towns without fire departments and police. Our planet’s climate is threatened.

So what does your vote for Hillary or Bernie mean? It means the next Supreme Court appointment. It means supporting a party that will not privatize the V.A and will fund public health; fund our infrastructure.  It means a government that will reinstate and enforce regulations. It means either candidate wants GOVERNMENT. We the people formed a more perfect union. That necessitates sacrificing some of what we want, so all can have basic needs met.

So vote for either Hillary or Bernie in the primary, then support whoever wins. If you give it over to the no-longer Republican party, usurped by the TeaParty, you are doing yourself and our country a great disservice.

  1. Well said, and I agree completely. I think we are in a battle for the heart and sole of America. This election may not be the final battle, but it is a very important one, indeed. The other side has gotten more and more weird over the past three election cycles, and they now put forth a slate of candidates that seem to be from a fascist state. Everyone needs to vote, no matter the candidate on the D ticket.
